Y’all, I LOVE FALL. It’s my favorite. Unfortunately, Northern California doesn’t exactly get the ideal Gilmore Girl fall weather. The grass is still crunchy brown, and I’m over here still wearing stretchy capri pants. But we can all pretend with fake garlands and lots of wooden signs with cheesy fall phrases on them. At least I will.
There is, however, one place that magically puts you in the fall mood, even if it is 90 degrees out. Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm in Wheatland, CA is THE place to go if you are looking for everything autumn. And no, there is no relation (my maiden name is Bishop!). It’s SO much more than a pumpkin farm. This 80+ acre farm includes a corn maze (with a new design every year), zip line, train, hayride, a huge hill of slides with an area to pan for marbles, a petting zoo, sunflower labyrinth, pony rides, an area with big tractor wheels stuck in the ground for the kiddos to play on, a carousel, and a real train caboose to play in.
And then there’s the food. Come hungry because this place has everything you could want and then some! There is a cookie factory where you can get a BUCKET of freshly baked crinkle and chocolate chip cookies, a full bakery with freshly baked pies, a cider mill where you can get apple cider slushies….
Let that sink in for a second.
APPLE CIDER SLUSHIES, y’all. Forget yo pumpkin-spiced lattes. I’ll have me one of these babies instead.
They also sell local honey, maple bacon almonds, tri-tip sandwiches, garlic fries, slow roasted corn, turkey legs and homemade fudge…I’ve gained five pounds just thinking about it.
We had such a great time that we came back two more times! I think the pictures do it justice:
