In 2009 I created an account on LiveJournal and wrote my first blog entry (I know this is dating me). Since then my blog has had many facelifts. In the beginning, it was solely a place for me to write about my experiences being an aspiring author. But times change, and as I began to enjoy blogging I also wanted to share my experiences with living in a foreign country, teaching, and parenting. And now here we are.
As I began sharing my teaching products I began to see an influx of traffic coming to my blog. I toyed with advertising options a few times and they always left a very bad taste in my mouth. There is nothing I hate more than going to a blog that is filled with ugly, intrusive ads, and I adamantly refused to let my space become one of them.
When I quit my full-time teaching job to homeschool my boys, the idea of monetizing my blog seeped back into my mind. I resisted for months because I didn’t want to make it seem like I was blogging just to make a buck. But after much deliberation and a huge blog revamp, I finally gave in and became an Amazon Affiliate. I was already sharing products I was using on my blog, so it seemed the least intrusive and most honest way to monetize. But with this comes some legal requirements. So…
My legal statement with Amazon:
Ariel Eishen is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.
In layman’s terms this just means that I receive a small percentage of earnings from Amazon products that I link to in my posts.
