This morning I woke up reeeeally wanting to sleep in and enjoy the cloudy weather, but then a little half person climbed into my bed and the baby began to cry, so there went that idea.
So, since I was up and not really wanting to spend the entire day cooped up in the house with a screaming toddler and a bored 6 year old, I decided to go check out the Medieval Festival at Lichtenberg Castle in Kusel (koo-zul), which is only about 25km away from us.
My GPS was acting up on the way, and it began to rain, AND the road was blocked off at one point (giving me a nice scenic tour of Kusel!), but we kept going, and I’m so glad we did!
Burg Lichtenberg was built in the 12th century but has undergone some restoration over the past century. Today it is open to the public and houses a couple of restaurants, a museum, and even serves as a meeting place for The University of Kaiserslautern.
