Another door is closing in my life.
Gosh, this is so much easier when the door squeaks every time you open it, or it gets stuck every time it moves. But this door is beautiful polished wood, and it is difficult for me to close it willingly. Today was my last day with my school family. Today I took the last box of my things and walked out of my classroom and into the next chapter of my life.
Friday I had a going away party with my students and families. It was an “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” theme after my favorite Dr. Seuss book. I normally read it at the end of the year, but I felt it coincided well with both my and my students’ situations right now. It was a wonderful time of fellowship, and I am so glad I got to honor my students and parents in such a fun way!
In addition to this the staff gave me a framed print of the school and said some very kind words at a meeting we had. My team surprised me today with lunch and some goodies…all a complete surprise. This year I was beyond blessed with an amazing team. It’s not every day you find a team of people that work so well together. I am going to miss my entire school family incredibly; they are a fantastic group to be a part of.
I’ll close this post with one of the sweetest notes I’ve received from a student. I actually didn’t read it until I got home because it was such a busy day, but it made me tear up and feel that I did right by my students. All of those months of work make it worth it to receive notes like this (and that is me she drew in the middle…that alone deserves and A+!):
“Make those students exallent like you did to me.” That says everything to me. I love my students.
