Happy New Year’s Eve! Remember, above all be safe and not stupid. Party hardy nonetheless, but still, please be safe! In a bit the hubs and I will be putting the kiddo to bed and sharing mojitos as we try our darndest to stay up ’till midnight. The odds of that happening, however, are pretty slim seeing as though we can barely make it to 10:00 these days, but we will put forth a solid effort.
I’m going to write a few posts in the coming days about the upcoming new year, the books I’ve read, and just reflecting on things I’ve accomplished and learned over the past 365 days. So let’s start with the latter, shall we?
Drumroll please. Here are the top 10 things I’ve learned in 2010 (in no particular order):
1. Patience is so much more becoming.
2. Blogging is a science. I never realized just how much time blogging takes. And maybe I’m just referring to social networking in general here, but if you want to do it effectively, it’s going to take time.
3. Learning to forgive yourself is difficult and does not happen overnight. But it is so important to let that anchor go. So important.
4. How to text. (I lived on an island for four years, okay? Cut me some technological slack.)
5. God is patient. I knew this already, but he has been especially patient with me this year.
6. My son is at an age where I really need to be careful of the decisions I make. He is watching everything and is SO influential right now. It has really made me examine myself. Every choice I make affects him in some way. That is huge. Colossal.
7. I am a bath person. As long as it’s accompanied by a Lush bubble bar.
8. I’m totally granola inside. But more of the cranberry-raisin-almond type of granola, not the plain oat and grain type. I’ve tapped into my inner granola, now I just have to reflect it in my, oh, everyday life.
9. My parents were real people once. They were teenagers who rode in cars passed curfew and went to parties. And I never knew the story of how they met until recently, which prompted me to begin a memoir for my son explaining just how ‘real’ the hubs and I were. Completely censored, of course.
10. Life is fully of gray. And that is alright.
I wish you a Happy New Year, Friends style!
Happy New Year everyone!
